Supported Living

Our Supported  Living project in Oakwood was  commissioned in 2005 and was set up to  support and to  help vulnerable adults, including people with learning disabilities, to live independently in the community. Our  arrangements are very flexible and are designed to give each person choice and control over their home and the way they live their life.  Our focal point is to provide  housing and support to help people to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Each person receives a package of support based on their individual needs.  Production of our residents  Care Plans and Risk assessments is user led to ensure their ownership, and ensuring that we provide the care and support that they deserve.

We aim to increase each person's independence over time, for example by reducing the amount of support needed, trying new things or moving to more independent accommodation.

All our residents who receive supported living support are supported to access full welfare benefits, including housing benefit, employment and support allowance, and disability living allowance.   We support our residents to apply and receive Supported living allowances funded through direct payments, personal budgets, Supporting People grants and Independent Living Fund payments.

We carry out  regular care , support  and reviews   on site,  to  help residents  to become more independent, develop and maintain social contacts and access local community facilities

We ensure that staff support and help residents with practical tasks such as looking after their home, paying bills and keeping safe.
